Screamin in California!

Published October 31st, 2006 by jenny-ology

Steve cried like a baby on all the scary rides at Disneyland. He wet his pants, he clawed his neighbor, and screamed at the top of his lungs. Here is the proof.

steve and ann on screamin.jpgAnnie and I tried to scare the other riders on the Indiana Jones ride by screaming on the noneventful part. Apparently- that only works when mike is with me. Maybe mom and kristin screaming when we did were other key ingredients to controling the minds of those on the ride.

Mike- where are you when I need you?

next time we all meet all disneyland, the rest of you people should consider it also.

see jenny-ology for other pictures of us at Disney and the beach.

My Kids

Since everyone else is showing pics and video of their kids, I think it’s about time I post some of my kids. Sometimes when I get bored Ginger and I play a little game of howling. One day I started singing that song, “In the jungle, the mighty jungle…” You know the one. Ginger started singing right along with me. I was demonstrating this for Holly the other night on the phone. She started singing it and Ginger could hear her through the phone and she started singing right along with Holly too! You may not get such a kick out of it as I do, but why don’t we find out?!

Hello from Arizona!

Melissa & Morgan (B-day).jpg

Hi everyone, Bryan got me all set up to post stuff on Simonson Family now, so I’ll post stuff here and at the Crocketts blog. I’m working on trying to get my pictures more accessible so that I can post a bunch for everyone. We’ll see how that goes!

Hello from the Crocketts!

Published October 10th, 2006 by melissa

Hello everyone! It’s nice to see all of the blogs and comments from everyone. I’ve been trying to stay fairly up to date with the Crocketts blog, but I’m going to give a good go at staying up to date on the Simonson’s blog too. Well, hmmmm….. news. Have I got any? Hard to say- Oooh! Right! I have some pretty big news. You all pretty much know that Morgan has been working as a heavy equipment mechanic since we moved down to Arizona so he’s got a good 3 years or so experience now. He started out as a mechanic’s apprentice and he loves the place he’s currently working at (Ace Asphalt). He was recently moved up from mechanic’s apprentice to mechanic. The news though, is that he just got a job offer from a different company called Ecco. This company offered him $5.50 per hour more than Ace Asphalt is currently paying him! Whoooo-hooooo!

I’m very excited at the whole thing, but mostly I’m really proud of Morgan. He’s such a fast learner and he’s so great at what he does. Everyone at Ace has nothing but great things to say about him (and I should know, I just went to the company picnic and met everybody last week!) and apparently Ecco thinks some pretty nice things about him too! You’d all just have to be here to see it. Morgan is THE guy at work. There are people older than him and younger than him, some being paid more and some being paid less and not necessarily in that order. But no matter the age, position or status, everyone at Ace likes and respects him. I know he’s going to love the new place too. Good job Morgan!!! ;)

I still live in Bellevue.

Bryan's Room

As I’ve been trying to get this blog working, and increase participation in said blog, I’ve spent a LONG time on the phone as a tech support guy, trying to help people post their posts.

In my endeavors, I realized just how severe the need is for people to communicate. All of my tech support calls inevitably became a long-winded series of stories to help catch-up the other respective party who was out of the loop…things the blog is supposed to handle.

Let’s do the math. How much phone time would it take for all of us to be caught up with each other, and for kids to say their interstate hellos? Well, nine Simonson kids, two Simonson parents, eleven “next-gen” kids– that’s twenty-two people full of hundreds of subjects each. For a realistic constraint, we’ll say that each person is limited to 10 subjects because of memory, politics, hunger, etc. So, even if we allocated just one minute per person, per subject, per week, that would be 880 minutes per month! And, let’s be honest– no subject is ever one minute or less. Realistically, we’d be looking at five times that, 4400 minutes– or (shudder) more.

That’s not all! Think about how much money we’d all be donating to the telcos! Smell that? That’s 96,800 minutes worth of money burning.

Now do you understand the uber-importance of this blog? We have a dire need for communication in this family. This didn’t exactly come to me in a moment of truth. It was more like hours. On the phone. Helping people post. Some people get paid for doing that. A few lucky people known as tech support people. It occurs to me, however, that most tech support time is given away for free to friends and family. But I digress…

Inevitably, during all of my tech-support calls with people living outside the state of Washington, everybody’s top question was, “So did you find a place to live?” Several times I was tempted to say, “No, I moved back in with my parents,” but that wouldn’t worked to well on my family. In any case, the answer is both “Yes” and “No”. I did not find a place to live, but I am still living in a “place”. That place is my same apartment in Bellevue.

Pictured above is a panorama view of my room. It hasn’t changed too much, but I wanted to show off my cool setup, or my crazy mess. Picture below are my two roommates, Fraz and Wes, respectively. Kudos to them! They pay 2/3 of the bills.
